We are less than two months away from the beginning of open enrollment for Obamacare, otherwise known as The affordable Care Act. Starting October 1st people may begin to apply for health coverage plans to be effective January 1st, 2014. No person can be denied coverage based on their health or pre-existing conditions. Minimum coverage requirements will be enforced and any person not carrying a Qualified Health Plan (QHP) will face a penalty at the end of 2014. Just because the penalty will come later, there is no reason to wait to get required coverage now. Insurance as we know it is changing and we must educate ourselves and be ready for what is to come.
